|AWHT has developed two major driving tours and two self guided walking tours in Arizona. Due to lack of funding, plans for such tours in all regions of Arizona have been temporarily postponed. It is hoped that as the overall financial situation improves, and these vital women's history expansion programs resumed. In the meantime, other Arizona women's history programs are in progress and public educational programs developed as funded is provided. Continued research and linkage with women's historic sites will also be continued based upon available funding.
Central Regional Driving Tour
Funded by the Arizona Humanities Council and the Yavapai-Prescott Tribe, this driving tour encompasses the metropolitan Phoenix area, all of Maricopa County, and outlying areas. A map outlines this region in the Driving Tour Brochure. This is a self-guided driving tour. Download a brochure.
AWHT is also planning a late fall AWHT Historian led bus tour. All details will be listed on this website after August 15. Stay tuned for details.
North Central Regional Driving Tour
This four was totally funded by the Yavapai-Prescott American Indian Tribe and is representational of the visionary women who were active in this historic region of Arizona. Brochures with a map are available in the Prescott Chamber of Commerce and the Office of Tourism. Other public institutions will have copies.
This is a self guided tour or interested persons may visit public historic sites when in the vicinity of each.
